Step : Walk In Like a Boss
Attention:
Banks close at 5 PM and lunch breaks are a thing. Go at 9 AM to avoid \”come back tomorrow\” embarrassment.
Find a big branch, walk up, say:
\”Wǒ xiǎng kāi yí gè yínháng zhànghù\” (I want to open a bank account).
If they look confused, show them this in your notes app:
\”我是外国人, 想开一个储蓄账户。可以吗?\”

Step : Follow the Guidance
You’ll fill out a ton of forms (mostly in Chinese). The staff might assistant you, or you can just turn to Google Translation for help.
Next, they’ll ask some key things‼️:
• Purpose of account (\”Daily use\” or \”Salary\” works)
• Set a 6-digit PIN (No birthdays—China’s strict!)
• Deposit some RMB (Usually 50-100¥ is enough)
Step : Final Tips
Congrats! You got the card! But wait:
– Download the bank’s app (ICBC/BOC have English versions).
– Bind your card to Alipay/WeChat Pay, and set a strong password.

评论:
- Very bad guide. I can already tell when a bank worker see a sentence \”我是外国人, 想开一个储蓄账户。可以吗\” his brain only can respond \”不可以”
- Google translation doesn\’t work in China. Why you don\’t know that?
- Can tourists open a bank account too? Or just residents?
- No use , foreign only get tier 2 small amount limit only 200.000rmb / year, even you put 500.000rmb in your account you still get only tier 2
- may i ask for which branches bank that accept foreigner to open the account?
